Human Judgment and Real-World Consequences
Original public research-position date: July 19, 2026 Original public version: v1.0.0 Author: Xufen Tu · Independent Interdisciplinary Researcher
This path first published a research position titled Human Judgment Before Consequential Execution. Its original text and date remain in Git history. This page is a current revision at the same path. It does not imply that the original text never existed or that its original date is the publication date of this revision.
AI can provide information and recommendations. When a choice may affect people in the real world, it is worth asking who understands its limits, who can respond to affected people, and who remains responsible for the outcome.
My current research position is that consequential choices need meaningful human responsibility. The presence of a person, or the availability of a system recommendation, does not itself establish that responsibility has been exercised.
This position does not prescribe a common approval gate, order of steps, or system design. What responsibility requires depends on the circumstances. Human judgment does not guarantee a correct outcome.
